WP 3. Responses from the governmental and local actors

  • Semi-structured interviews with stakeholders, officials, and civil society organisations

We are conducting a series of interviews teachers, doctors, muhtars (neighbourhood officials), local officials and businesspeople, NGOs, and civil society and local humanitarian organisations. These interviews conducted at the local level, in the five locations chosen for the survey research, will be complemented by interviews at the district and national level, including government officials and international humanitarian organisations. The sample will include 30 interviewees.

  • Semi-structured interviews with experts and policymakers in the U.K., EU, and Brussels

We will interview experts and policymakers from EU bodies, as well as U.K. and EU experts on cultural integration to better understand the EU response to the crisis and its constraints, and to understand what particular countries that are migration destinations (esp. U.K., Germany, and Sweden) consider best practices in the fields of education, health, and labour. Interviews will aid us in formulating policy recommendations for Turkish institutions, including education and work programmes, as well as at the EU and UN level, where emphasis will be on coordination and effective burden-sharing. The sample will include 20 interviewees.
